“Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works”.
Steve Jobs

Signals of Culture

CATEGORY: Industrial design

LOCATION: Valle Seriana

YEAR: 2022
Signals of Culture in Val Seriana. In collaboration with Promoserio and Ferdy Baleri. A project we worked on with a particular passion. What moved the pencil, this time, was the love for our mountains and our paths. The project is dedicated to "Territorial Design" and is called "Signals of Culture in ValSeriana".

We have conceived, designed and developed identifying signs for four literary paths dedicated to great names in Italian literature: Dante Alighieri, Italo Calvino, Dino Buzzati and Mario Rigoni Stern. Mapped and traced walking paths, along which to move slowly and where, thanks to the design of cultural signs, symbols of the territory find space together with the words of these great authors of Italian literature who loved the mountains.

The concept of the signals is characterized by elements closely connected with the history of our valleys. And therefore the Iron Stick, raw material that tells stories of sweaty mines and ice axes that mark the rocks. The Gesture, not perfectly vertical but in oblique incidence, natural for the arm of those who seek support while walking along mountain paths. The declination of the Umì, the accumulation of stones, a primordial sign of the path that renews itself and grows with the slow ritual of leaving stone after stone. And the piano, where words are engraved that make us unique in the world, descendants of minds that looked from a different, certainly higher, perspective. So we decide to move the poets' writing vertically, so that to read you have to move your head in an unusual way, out of respect and gratitude.
