Ai Pontili – A Design Experience Between Land and Water

Overlooking the picturesque Lake Orta, the Ai Pontili restaurant and pizzeria is born from an interior design project that celebrates the surrounding landscape and the harmony between material and light. Our intervention has created a space with a warm industrial character, where the solid essentiality of cement and iron dialogues with the enveloping warmth of wood, creating a refined and welcoming environment.

The atmosphere is defined by a skillful balance of materials: the cement flooring and the formwork cement finish on the walls blend with iron details, while the wooden ceiling and tables add a touch of intimacy and comfort. The lighting has been meticulously designed, with warm technical lights that enhance the space and subtly accompany the culinary experience.

The absolute protagonist is the lake, which enters the space as a poetic and inspiring element. A wall features verses by Eugenio Montale, paying homage to the timeless beauty of Lake Orta, transforming the restaurant into a place where nature and culture meet.

Every detail has been designed with care and functionality: the tables are fixed to the wall and integrated with a bottle rack, a choice that combines aesthetics and practicality, ensuring order and stability. The outdoor space extends into the landscape, designed to amplify the connection with the natural environment, thanks to the choice of the director’s chair and an innovative table layout that emphasizes conviviality.

The custom-designed bar is a focal point of the experience, featuring a barrel-vaulted entrance that welcomes guests and guides them on a sensory journey between taste and design. And for a touch of surprise, the wow-effect bathroom, with dedicated wallpaper, transforms even the most intimate space into a distinctive element of the project.
